Visa Application Procedures

EVERYONE, regardless of age, needs a visa to enter the United States, if they do not qualify for the Visa Waiver Program.

The U.S. Consulates in Berlin, Frankfurt and Munich provide general Nonimmigrant Visa services for most visa categories.  However, there are some categories that are only processed at certain consulates:


BERLIN: Diplomatic Visas (A and G).


FRANKFURT: Immigrant Visas, Fiancé (K) Visas, and Treaty Trader/Investor (E) Visas. 

Please note, if you are applying to renew your Treaty Trader/Investor (E) visa, you may make an appointment in Frankfurt.  If your company is not currently registered or if you need to renew your registration, please visit http://germany.usembassy.gov/germany/visa/index.html for more information.

 

Special Application Procedures - Frankfurt, Berlin and Munich:

Everyone applying for a visa at any visa processing post in Germany is required to appear in person except for the following:

Children 13 years of age or younger;
                    OR  
Persons 80 years of age or older;
                    OR
Diplomats on Official Business.

In addition, anyone who does not live in Germany or whose visa application has been previously denied must appear in person, including diplomats, children 13 years of age or younger and applicants 80 years of age or older.

Please note:
Only visa applicants are allowed to enter the Consulate. No guests are allowed to enter with the applicants unless the applicant(s) are applying for a F/J/M visa and are under the age of 16; then one (1) parent is allowed to accompany the applicant into the Consulate.
